Nanotechnology: A Review of Applications and Issues

Nanotechnology literally means any technology on a nanoscale that has applications in the real world. It is a relatively a new word, but it is not an entirely new field. It is widely felt that nanotechnology is the next Industrial Revolution since it has a profound impact on our economy and society in the early 21st century, comparable to that of semiconductor technology, information technology, or cellular and molecular biology. The purpose of this paper is to look into the present aspects of “Nanotechnology”. This paper gives a brief description of what nanotechnology is and its application in various fields viz. computing, medicine, food technology, robotics, solar cells etc. It also deals with the future perspectives of nanotechnology, risks in advanced nanotechnology.
